MCAS Yuma Artemis Program

Women Led, Command Supported, Evidenced based programming for the Pregnant and Post-Partum Marine.

About

The Artemis Program is a pregnant and postpartum program created specifically for active duty Marines and Sailors. Service members have the unique requirement to not only be a good mom and a good Marine or Sailor; they also have to maintain their physical and mental readiness. While there are many resources on base, there has not been a great way to pull them all together—until now!

The Artemis Program is here to help you from the beginning of pregnancy until that first physical fitness test 12 months postpartum. We not only address physical fitness, but also social, mental and spiritual health. We collaborate with the Base Clinic, SemperFit, MCCS, Behavioral Health, and more to create a supportive experience for YOU during your reproductive journey.  As a pregnant Marine or Sailor, you will be paired with an active duty mentor to help guide you through the pregnancy and post-partum period.

Once you know you are pregnant, make sure to submit your Proof of Pregnancy to your command. Reach out the either base medical or our POC for an enrollment form via email or phone.  You can also reach our through the Facebook page!

If you want to be an Artemis Mentor, join the MCAS Yuma Artemis Program Facebook page and/or contact us for more information.

Class Descriptions:

Stork Club  Play based group for families who have a child in the 0-18 month age range. Come and learn to play with your children, meet other parents, build your support group, and receive education on parenting experiences. Each week will cover a different topic and gives a new chance to ask all your parenting questions.

What to Expect  If you are thinking about becoming pregnant or are newly pregnant, this is the class for you. Let us walk you through your baby’s growth and development throughout the three trimesters of your pregnancy.  You will also learn all about nutrition, body changes, and overall pregnancy care.

Childbirth Experience Your due date is quickly approaching and all those questions about labor, delivery and postpartum are racing through your head. Come learn about the stages of labor, types of deliveries, and what changes to expect once your baby arrives.

Baby Boot camp Fun and interactive class for parents to prepare for the first three months of your baby being home with you. In this class, you will learn about parenthood, attachment and bonding, SIDS, shaken baby syndrome, calming baby, community resources, self-care, newborn care, and more.

Relaxation and Breastfeeding Prepare for your baby’s arrival by gaining hands on experience. Breastfeeding success starts with the information provided in this class on topics such as preparing to feed, positioning, milk storage, pumping, feeding patterns, and more. Not to be overlooked is the importance of Relaxation.  In this class, we will cover topics such as massage, breathing techniques, and other relaxation methods for use leading up to baby’s arrival, during labor, and in the postpartum period.
