Join Miramar Station Library's Summer Reading Program
The Summer Reading Program is a 8-week program that takes place from June 10-August 2. This program, hosted by the Miramar Station Library, includes a reading challenge and 7 special events which will occur on Wednesdays at 10:00am throughout the challenge.
Challenge Information
There are 4 age groups within the challenge: PreReader, Kids, Teens and General (Adult). Prospective participants can register on Beanstack on May 20 and participants can start logging reading minutes on June 10 when the program starts. To complete the challenge, readers need to read 1,200 minutes, which is 150 minutes per week. As readers log their minutes, they earn prizes, which they can come into the library to claim. The community reading goal is 300,000 minutes.
Summer Reading Program: Challenge Setup
To register and enter the challenge, you only need to set up an account through a browser. To set up a Beanstack account, you can visit https://miramarstationlibrary.beanstack.org. Participants should create an account as a new user even if they participated previously, and they should create an account through a browser. Then, they can download the app from an app store. Once this is downloaded, click “find your school or library.” Search for “MCAS Miramar.” Use existing username and password you created online to log in.
Summer Reading Program Events
These special events take place on Wednesdays at 10:00am during the Summer Reading Program. No registration is required for the events below.
- June 12: Kick-Off Party
- June 26: Worms for Kids - Explore the world of worms and how they benefit the environment.
- July 10: Nature - Learn about the spectacular diversity of nature surrounding San Diego
- July 17: Kamishibai - See stories come alive in the Japanese street performer art of Kamishibai
- July 24: Veggie Gardens - Learn about veggie gardening with a fun planting activity for all ages.
- July 31: Animal Friends - Come say hello to some animal friends.
- August 7: Summer Reading Program Party - Celebrate your achievements with us featuring 3d MAW brass quintet! Prizes will be given to our top readers.
Borrowing at the Miramar Station Library
There is no limit on the number of books you can check out at the Miramar Station Library! You're allowed 2 copies per title, per patron for CMC titles. For digital copies of titles, visit the DoD Digital Library link, listed below.
